Book Summary of Faint Cold Fear, A

From the double #1 bestseller.
Sara Linton, medical examiner in the small town of Heartsdale, is called out to an apparent suicide on the local college campus. The mutilated body provides little in the way of clues - and the college authorities are keen to avoid a scandal - but for Sara and police chief Jeffrey Tolliver, things don't add up. nnTwo more suspicious suicides follow, and a young woman is brutally attacked. For Sara, the violence strikes far too close to home. And as Jeffrey pursues the sadistic killer, he discovers that ex-police detective Lena Adams, now a security guard on campus, may be in possession of crucial information. But, bruised and angered by her expulsion from the force, Lena seems to be barely capable of protecting herself, let alone saving the next victim...

Barbara May 21, 2011 review from Goodreads

I'm gradually becoming a solid fan of Karin Slaughter's mystery novels. In this one the lead characters are Sara Linton, medical examiner, and Jeffrey Tolliver, Chief of Police, of a small college town in Georgia. The college plays a large role in the story; it's supposedly a school for dorky typ...

Kayeb August 25, 2009 review from Goodreads

Her books essentially have every main character being raped, killed, or beaten... The themes of how women are abused is a prevailing theme, and I have to wonder if this author has experienced this and is trying to work thru it by her writings..... I just don't buy it. Lena's sister is killed and...

Xirxe August 12, 2009 review from Goodreads

Maerhys June 24, 2012 review from Goodreads

An incredible disappointment even after the two mediocre books that precede it. At least in Blindsighted and Kisscut, I had Lena to root for, but now, well, not so much. Sara Linton is as insufferable as ever and possibly more so as she deals with her parents being mad at her and Jeffrey and an o...

Shelleyrae May 30, 2010 review from Goodreads

A Faint Cold Fear is well paced, with solid plotting that moves the story forward as the investigation twists around the characters. It starts with a suprising crime scene that gives an impression that quickly changes with the arrival of Sara who uses the injuries, described in detail, to determi...
