About the Author
Ian Lancaster Fleming was born in London in 1908. His first job was at Reuters news agency after which he worked briefly as a stockbroker before working in Naval Intelligence during the Second World War. His first novel, Casino Royale, was published in 1953 and was an instant success. Fleming went on to write thirteen other Bond books as well as two works of non-fiction and the childrens classic Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The Bond books have sold over sixty million copies and earned praise from figures such as Raymond Chandler who called Fleming the most forceful and driving writer of thrillers in England and President Kennedy who named From Russia with Love as one of his favourite books. The books inspired a hugely successful series of film adaptations which began in 1962 with the release of Dr No, starring Sean Connery as 007. Fleming was married to Anne Rothermere with whom he had a son, Caspar. He died in 1964.

The book could have just as well been an essay on how Bond spent his Japanes...
YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE, the last James Bond novel Ian Fleming lived to see published, is great page-turner, with interesting insights (some unfortunately colored by prejudices of the time) into Japanese culture as well as the post-WWII decline of Britain as a global power. Bond, a wreck of a man aft...
AM I A FAN OF THE JAMES BOND BOOKS? YES I AM. MY MOTHER DURING THE 1960'S PURCHASED THE COMPLETE SET OF IAM FLEMINGS BOOKS IN THE JAMES BOND SERIES FROM A SIGN UP OFFERINGS OF A BOOK CLUB FOR $1.99. IN MY EARLY TEENS I READ EVERY BOOK AND IT STARTED ME AS AN AVID READER OF SPY AND SUSPENSE NOVELS...
On a less high-stakes assignment to Japan than his previous adventures, Bond nevertheless finds himself on the trail of arch-nemesis Blofeld ... and this time, it's personal :) I read this back during my original attempt to work through the Bond novels in early adolescence, but reading it out of...
