Photography is soon becoming the world’s most popular hobby. And why not? It is a simple art to practice, creates memories, is environment friendly and engages the mind body and spirit. The question is of how to create good photographs that will be appreciated by others, and how to make your images different. These are some of the questions that will be answered in this workshop.

In many ways, photography reflects life and life reflects photography. It becomes easy to understand and practice photography once you see the parallels and draw on them. The secrets of photography are the little secrets… the fundamental truths… the tiny pieces of wisdom. Paradoxically, it usually takes years of practice to come to these realizations.

In a set of one-day workshops conducted in Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Lucknow and Hyderabad, K Madhavan Pillai, Editor of Better Photography magazine, reveals some of these secrets that can transform the way you think about the art and craft of photography.

From the simplest practice based concepts, knowing about your camera, simple techniques to the secrets of simple things to look out for when you shoot, the workshop is geared to immediately improve the way you practice photography and approach a subject.

How is the workshop conducted?

This is information packed, intensive workshop. The workshop uses a discussion based approach towards understanding photography, where participants are encouraged to contribute ideas and thoughts. Regular Q&A sessions, image reviews and problem solving exercises, a few practical sessions simple portraiture, use of various camera features, tips and techniques, and making simple, practical accessories on a budget are all a part of the workshop.

Participants are also required to use their cameras to follow certain practices discussed at the workshop, make selections, explain and defend their images in open critique sessions. The workshop also includes understanding how to make the best use of your camera, Q&A sessions, tips and techniques, ideas on making simple, practical accessories on a budget.
